Debranding
Thoughts that count
Hello my beauties!
Thank you all for your support, I am lucky to have you all here floating on this journey with me :)
Today, I dive into what I call ‘de-branding’: unveiling our core authenticity.
WEDDING SEASON BEAUTS
What does it mean to debrand?
Simply, to undo, to break bad habits, to come undone of who you think you should be.
Go-getters and high achieving goons are constantly showing up to be the best.
But what is best?
Why do you yearn to be the best instead of the best you?
Your best is at the heart of a royal debranding.
And better yet, there is no process to becoming what you already are.
Just sit, breathe and listen to how good it feels to be you.
How special it is to live in this moment, to take a beat and acknowledge all the work you have done and the people who make you feel more alive everyday.
What does that mean to you?
What do your people mean to you?
When we reflect on this version of ourselves, something magical happens: we debrand.
In a business context, acknowledge the precious partnerships and repeat clients who keeping coming back. What do they really love about your work? Why is it so easy to work with these people?
You are not a brand, you are a human being who connects in unique ways to others.
If we connect to the core of who we are, we can let go of all the fluff that comes along with ~branding.
The other day, a client and I held a working session, brainstorming a major question: ‘what does a good deal look like?”
I presented the following 4 phases (more cyclical than linear)
Curiosity and a contagious energy to learn
Knowledge exchange and mutual respect
Beautiful collaboration, culture fit
Empathetic compromise
We begin with a curiosity to learn and engage with people who speak the same language. We then build respect by way of teaching eachother and making space for new ideas and trustworthy opportunities. Next comes culture fit through seamless collaboration and joy. And then we transition into a detail oriented compromise, led with empathy and impact-driven measurements… iterated to fit for purpose and financial objectives.
In my mind, the difference between a good and a great deal is empathy. If we don’t have empathy and humility our egos take the lead and toxic shame takes over.
Power flows in the hands of those who:
understand patience is necessary. A good deal takes time.
lean on sensitive leaders who act in love to heal a clients pain point
Things to think about … :)
